The Leonia Library Local History Collection includes books, pamphlets, brochures, flyers, maps, diaries, journals, letters, newspapers, newpaper clippings, scrapbooks, programs, Borough publications and records, oral histories, unpublished manuscripts, photographs, slides, artifacts, dvd's and other audiovisual documentary materials.

Highlights of the collection include: documents from the colonial period beginning with 1704, one such document was written by William Patterson when he served as secretary to the New Jersey Provincial Congress in 1776, the English Neighborhood Marriage Records 1776-1878, a hand drawn map of Leonia from 1870, an 1889 hand tooled leather photo album with gold tipped pages belonging to the Vreeland & Moore families, photographs of children standing in front of the wooden schoolhouse on Grand Avenue in 1894, a brass uniform belt buckle from the Spanish-American War circa 1898, a brochure with photos of Leonia High School faculty in 1913 when it opened, 15 diaries of suffragist and one of the League of Women Voters founders Margaret Porch Hamilton from 1905 to 1922, and Borough tax records and ordinances dating to 1894.
